Description: Recognized by the Federation Cynologique Internationale in 1973, this spitz breed was developed in the 1960s by Prof. Julius Wipfel in Germany by combining Chow Chow, Wolfspitz (Keeshonden) and Samoyed. The Eurasier is robust enough to live outdoors but much prefers to be an indoor companion. Excellent with children, the breed develops close family bonds; its demeanor toward strangers is reserved, making it an excellent watchdog. The soft, luxurious, medium length coat requires brushing every other day, especially during seasonal shedding. Colors range from blond to sable, red, gray and black. Solid white or large white patches are unacceptable. Interestingly, the breed can have a blue-black tongue. Males weigh up to 70 pounds and measure up to 23.5 inches in height, with females being proportionally smaller. The breed is clean, quiet, quick to learn and eager to please. A daily walk meets its exercise requirements. Use a light hand in training, and the sensitive Eurasier will respect your authority. Group: Rare NORMAL SIZE:
